Choosing the Right Hardware
Any TV with HDMI Works
You can use any TV with an HDMI port together with any external Android TV box.
Best Android Version for TV Boxes
Older versions are better. Use Android 9 to 13 for best results.
New Android versions add restrictions that cause problems:
- Blocking auto-start
- Difficulty accessing files from USB
- Conflicts with app features
- Avoid: Amazon Fire TV — not recommended
Recommended Specifications
- RAM: Minimum 2GB for smooth slides and scrolling messages
- RTC Clock: Choose a device with Real Time Clock to keep correct time when electricity goes out
No RTC? No Problem
- Turn on Wi-Fi in your TV box settings
- Device will update clock and date automatically
- Open the app — it will find the correct time
- Turn off Wi-Fi immediately
Does the App Need Internet All the Time?
No. Tawkit only needs internet occasionally:
Weather update: once per week (~1 minute)
Import/Export settings: 3 to 5 minutes
Clock correction: as needed
- Warning: Leaving internet open all the time in the mosque is not recommended. Use it only when needed for a few minutes then turn it off.
