About Tawkit

Tawkit (التوقيت) is a free Islamic app that shows the clock, prayer and iqama times, Qur'an verses, hadith and adhkar on the screens of mosques and homes: TVs with Android TV boxes, smart TVs, phones, tablets, computers, Raspberry Pi and any web browser.

The story

Tawkit was created by Ismail Chagdali (إسماعيل شكدالي) in 2013, first for use at home. In 2016 it started to be used in mosques, and today it runs in 74+ countries, in 48+ languages. Some old versions were published on 7assanat.wordpress.com.

A waqf, free for everyone

Tawkit is free, with no ads. It is a waqf for the houses of Allah: it may not be sold. Read the terms of use.

How the project works

• The author develops Tawkit in his free time and decides the new releases and important updates himself.
• The project is not open source and not a business: there is no commercial collaboration.
• What helps most: volunteers who install the app in mosques and homes. Become a volunteer.
• Suggestions are welcome; useful ones are added step by step in future versions. Contact

The people around Tawkit

• Volunteers in many countries help install and set up the app, for free or for a fee agreed with the mosque's administration.
